Christiane Silber, a conductor with a wide range of musical interests, studied conducting with Jörg-Peter Weigle, Marek Janowski and Vladimir Jurowski.
At the beginning of her conducting career she was active as assistant and substitute to Prof. Constantin Alex (Humboldt University Berlin). During this time she was a regular conductor of the Humboldt University Student Philharmonic, the Humboldt University Philharmonic Choir and the Symphony Orchestra of the Humboldt University Berlin. She has also worked with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra and the German-Scandinavian Youth Orchestra. Since 2010 Christiane Silber has been chief conductor of concentus alius and since 2014 chief conductor of the cappella academica of the Humboldt University Berlin. In 2017 she conducted the Syrian Expat Philharmonic Orchestra in Berlin at the final concert of a workshop in cooperation with Berlin amateur orchestras in the concert hall of the Berlin University of the Arts. With the newly founded Philharmonisches Filmorchester Berlin she conducted three successful concert tours in China at the turn of each year from 2013 to 2016 and again in 2019. In 2016 she made her debut at the Großes Haus of the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater in Schwerin with the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin. Two years later she was assistant to Ariane Matiakh at the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg for the new production of Jules Massenet's Werther. 2018 also saw her conduct several concerts and a recording project for the CD production for Axel Prahl’s most recent album (Mehr) in cooperation with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, in November 2018 she conducted the first production of the new co-founded female composer's collective "Track15" with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg. |
January 2019 Christiane Silber conducted the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin for the first time. This is "her" orchestra, where she has been engaged as sub principal viola since 2005. Subsequently she was engaged as assistant to Henrik Nánási for a new production of Tchaikovsky's Jolanthe at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia/Spain.
She made her debut with the Zug Sinfonietta in May 2019 and has been engaged for further recordings of "Track15" with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg in the spring and autumn of 2019 respectively. In December 2019 she conducted the Saxon Philharmonic Wind Orchestra, Germany's only professional wind orchestra, for the first time. For July 2020 she was again engaged by the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin as conductor, this time for a special concert together with the exceptional artist Björk at the Waldbühne Berlin. This concert has been rescheduled for June of 2022. Christiane Silber conducted the Sinfonietta op. 1 by Benjamin Britten with the RSB in a live concert on RBB Radio and was engaged for the final concert of the season in July 2020 as assistant to Vladimir Jurowski. She will now conduct the season opening concert of the Musik- Collegium Schaffhausen with the German Radio Chamber Orchestra and Beethoven's 9th Symphony, planned for October 2020, in October 2021. In January 2021, the current production of "Track15" with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg was completed under her direction. Born in Berlin, she began to play the piano at the age of four, two years later began studying the violin and later also voice. She studied music with a major in viola at the HfM "Hanns Eisler" Berlin and at the HfM "Franz Liszt" Weimar and completed her studies with a diploma and concert exam. |
